A month of Epstein

Amazing TV, the best Irish game I've ever played, catching up on music and P.T.A.

Well, well, welcome! This is what I’m at lately.

🎧 Listening To

Blindboy’s dissection of the latest Epstein dump overlaps nicely with Garbage Day’s incisive analysis.

I followed far-right soccer hooligan Tommy Robinson as he marched through the streets of London in the weeks leading up to Brexit, monitored 4chan users in France and Germany as they tried to hijack their respective elections, attended Facebook’s election party in Rome, interviewed Bolsominion YouTubers in Brazil, went to Estonia to learn about how the country was protecting itself from Russian-led disinformation campaigns, and even went back to the source, interviewing Japanese bloggers in Tokyo about 2chan, or Futaba Channel, the site that inspired 4chan.

…it does increasingly feel like I was actually, without knowing it, following Jeffrey Epstein around the world the whole time.

📺 Watching

Still loving The Pitt. I’ve been doing some travel, so I’ve missed a couple of episodes, breaking the lovely short streak of watching week to week. Binging Season 1 almost killed me 😅.

One Battle After Another was a joy – I was expecting something a little more arch, with a gimmick, and was pleasantly surprised to find myself watching a real movie that was genuinely surprising and fresh.

🕺 Grooving To

St. Vincent! I have of course heard some of her songs, but I can’t believe I haven’t gone deeper on her music before. It slaps! I’ve been sticking her new1 album Run Screaming on while I work, travel and clean and it’s chock full of bangers.

📱 Apps and That

My task-management home page

No new cool apps, though we’ve started leaning more into using Vikunja, an open-source To Do app. There is a mobile app, though it’s barely a thing. For getting on-device reminders, I’ve been using Tasks via F-Droid on Android.

👎 Not For Me

F1: The Movie. More on that later.

📚 Reading Books

Getting into Agatha Christie at the moment. Read Death in the Clouds, started Elephants Can Remember.

🤓 Reading Online

I’ve been building out my Blogroll, reading some of Programmable Mutter

🎮 Playing

Still playing Séance of Blake Manor! I’ve gotten to the last day, and the vibe is just exquisite.
