Procrastiwork

The work you to do avoid the work you should do.

Last Winter I wrote a novel! It was occasionally gruelling, but often fun and I was incredibly satisfied when I was finished. I was following the same rules as (now defunct) NaNoWriMo, which meant no editing as I went. This meant that I actually managed to finish my story, BUT it also meant that there were dangling threads in the story, some changes of direction that hadn’t been smoothed out and certainly plenty of typos and inelegant language.

My intention was to edit the novel in the first quarter, but I have, (un?)fortunately found a new diversion. A sort of “infinite” hobby of self-hosting services and cosplaying as a sysadmin.

My latest distraction is setting up monitoring, and it’s honestly glorious. It even helped me discover and fix an issue on one of the machines!

It is endlessly fun to tinker with this stuff BUT I did actually manage to take a pass at the first two chapters of the book this week, and will finally show it to someone for very early feedback.
