Bye bye, GitHub
We all saw it coming, but still.
GitHub have, in a turn that surprises nobody, changed their minds and decided they will actually steal your data.
They are giving you an opt-out (which is bananas, it should be opt-in), but honestly, I wouldn’t trust it. It either doesn’t fully opt you out, or opts you out…for now.
These weren’t important repos to anybody but me, a log of how I’ve grown as a developer, and fun little projects I’ve done.
I have migrated all of my repositories, public and private, off GitHub, and deleted them from that platform. My stuff is now (mostly private) at https://git.marquezkeenan.family/ben.
Note the language “You won’t have access to the feature”, the feature being where they steal your data for their own benefit.
I also opted out of the training, for whatever that’s worth.
