Baking Flatbreads, and beating Pandemic

Honestly, fuck that game. But shall we have a quick go again?

This weekend I went away with my mate Liam and took a course at Riot Rye on flatbread-making in Cloughjordan Ecovillage. It had originally been inspired by Israel’s genocidal invasion and destruction of Gaza, as a way to raise money for Palestinian charities, and to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the region, the birth of bread 8,000 years ago. Joe, the baker leading the class, reflected on the sad irony of us gathering for this celebration on a weekend when Isreal and the US were hammering Iran (a region also crucial to the global tradition of breadmaking).

It's a sign, you know what a sign is. The bakery is beautiful, very warming, practical and welcoming A Palestinian flag at Cloughjordan Ursa Minor Tadaa! Lil bike thing

I had hoped to take far more photos but honestly my hands were mostly sticky with dough or covered in flour.

While that was super fun and I can’t wait to use my rye starter to make more delicious flatbreads, the biggest news was that we finally, fucking finally, beat Pandemic.

I don't want to say how many times we tried but the important thing is that we didn't give up.
